Abstract

Background/Objectives: The diagnosis of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) risk prediction is a vital and complicated job in medicine which is closely linked with lifestyle related behaviors. The main intention of this work is to build up a rapid and automatic prediction of CHD risk by integrating Decision Tree (DT) and Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP). Methods/Statistical Analysis: The proposed hybrid method consists of two stages in which risk identification is carried out in the first stage and level prediction is done in the second stage. In the first stage the physical and biochemical factors are classified using C4.5 algorithm in DT. In the second stage the CHD risk identified instances from DT are analyzed using MLP with habitation and medical history attributes. Findings: The obtained classification accuracies of this system are 98.66% for DT and 96.66% for MLP. The performance analysis of the proposed method is evaluated using sensitivity and specificity which helps to reduce the healthcare costs, further invasive CHD risk examination and waiting time of the individuals. Application/Improvements: The proposed work structured an optimal predictive tool for diagnosing CHD risk, which can further serve as an implication sketch for physicians in clinical diagnosis.

Abstract

Background/Objectives: Multi Port Converters (MPCs) have gained importance in renewable power generation recently. MPCs can interface and control many power terminals and are generally economical with high power density, efficiency, and compact structure. Bidirectional MPC is proposed in this paper to facilitate power flow between load and source in a two way channel. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The proposed model is simulated using MATLAB software. The results confirm that the overall efficiency of the system is increased and the power flow is bidirectional with reduced losses. Findings: In the present existing topology, Bidirectional flow of energy is a challenging study in case of MPCs. Power losses will be high due to the use of Diode Bridge. The main motive of this paper lies in proposing a systematic method for deriving MPC topologies from non-isolated BDCs and FBCs. The derived MPCs use four port converters with both buck and boost topologies. Due to the usage of full bridge converter, bidirectional power flow is achieved unlike the traditional method. Application/Improvements: The proposed system is capable of being used for the applications of renewable power system, namely, PV-supplied aerospace power systems, fuel cell, battery systems, hybrid energy storage systems, and thermoelectric systems with energy backup. It has reduced power loss and facilitates two way power flow.

Abstract

Objectives: The FACTS devices plays vital role in compensating reactive power for increased power transmission capability and to maintain flat voltage profile in transmission system. The proposed 24 pulse VSC makes it possible to eliminate the need of external filters. Methods/Analysis: Power system performance improvement by effective management of reactive power is studied by designing the FACTS devices with the help of simulink in MATLAB. Findings: Reactive power control and stability of the transmission line is highly achieved by the STATCOM, a shunt compensator and SSSC, a series compensator. Reactive power control maintains constant voltage profile at all power transmission levels, thereby efficiency of transmission line, power factor and system stability is improved. Series and Shunt VAR compensation modifies the necessary electrical parameters of transmission line. Reactance parameter of the power system is modified by series compensation, while the equivalent load impedance is changed by shunt compensation. The results confirm that the need of external passive filter is eliminated. Application/Improvement: The system under consideration can be installed in any type of transmission system irrespective of energy generation method.
